Thai Nguyen records strong performance in culture, sports and tourism

On July 8, the Thai Nguyen Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to review its performance in the first six months of 2026 and outline key tasks for the remainder of the year.

During the first half of the year, a wide range of cultural, artistic and sporting activities were organized, attracting strong public participation. Efforts to preserve and promote cultural heritage continued, while the campaign "All People Unite to Build a Cultural Life" and other patriotic emulation movements were implemented effectively. Thai Nguyen's athletes competed in 30 national and international tournaments, winning a total of 384 medals.

The tourism sector also posted impressive results. For the first time, Thai Nguyen welcomed more than five million visitors in the first six months of the year, up 16.3 percent year on year. Total tourism revenue was estimated at over VND 7.3 trillion, an increase of 59.6 percent.

A key highlight was the successful organization of the opening ceremony of the Thai Nguyen Tourism Season 2026, themed "Lake on the Mountain – Tea in the Clouds," which helped promote the province's image and stimulate tourism demand.

In the second half of the year, the Department will continue implementing provincial and sectoral programs and projects in support of the province's socio-economic development goals. On the occasion, outstanding organizations and individuals were honored for their achievements in carrying out assigned tasks.
