Recently, authorities of Thai Nguyen Province and Cao Bang Province held a working session in Thai Nguyen to discuss and agree on coordination mechanisms for implementing the Bac Kan–Cao Bang Expressway Construction Investment Project, particularly the section passing through Thai Nguyen Province.

The Bac Kan–Cao Bang Expressway is a Group A infrastructure project with a total length of approximately 82.5 kilometers. Of this, around 60 kilometers will pass through Thai Nguyen Province and about 21 kilometers through Cao Bang Province. The project is estimated to require a total investment of VND 29.3 trillion and is scheduled for implementation from 2026 to 2029.
Based on the discussions and agreements reached during the meeting, leaders of the People's Committees of Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang provinces signed a memorandum confirming the project’s implementation.
The document serves as a basis for both localities to direct relevant departments, agencies, and units to promptly prepare and issue decisions, proposals, and detailed plans, ensuring coordinated, effective, and timely implementation in accordance with regulations.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang provinces reaffirmed that the expressway is a key transport project with significant importance in enhancing regional infrastructure connectivity, creating momentum for socio-economic development, and expanding links between Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang and other localities in the region.
They emphasized that establishing a coordinated implementation mechanism, securing resources, and clearly assigning responsibilities among relevant agencies and units are essential to accelerating progress and achieving the goal of commencing construction of the Bac Kan–Cao Bang Expressway in December 2026.
