Thai Nguyen promotes rooftop solar power development

In line with the policies of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, rooftop solar power is being encouraged to help reduce reliance on conventional power generation and strengthen energy security.

Thai Nguyen Power Company is implementing a range of measures to ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply. Among them, rooftop solar power has been identified as one of the company's key priorities. Installation procedures are divided into two categories: systems with a capacity of over 100 kW and those below 100 kW.

For systems under 100 kW, customers are only required to submit a notification, while systems exceeding 100 kW must be connected to the power grid in accordance with electricity sector requirements.

By the end of June 2026, the province had 1,511 rooftop solar power systems with a combined installed capacity of 47.6 MWp.

The expansion of rooftop solar power is expected to help ensure a stable electricity supply for Thai Nguyen while supporting the transition to clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, and contributing to Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
