As temperatures in Thai Nguyen have recently approached 40°C, the province’s electronics and home appliance market has become increasingly active. Air conditioners and air coolers are among the most sought-after products as residents look for ways to protect their health and improve living conditions during the extreme heat.

At many electronics stores and appliance supermarkets, from the city center to communes and wards, customer traffic has risen sharply compared to previous periods. Along with growing consumer demand comes mounting pressure on installation and maintenance services, while buyers are also becoming more careful and proactive in selecting products.

Ms. Trinh Thi Thanh, Manager of Quang Thai Electronics and Refrigeration Company, shared: “During this peak heatwave, sales of cooling appliances have increased by around 20 to 30 percent compared to last year. Notably, customers are buying earlier this year and choosing air conditioners with suitable, or even higher, capacity to ensure better cooling performance and product durability”.

At major electronics supermarket chains, air conditioner sales have also seen significant growth, mainly in the affordable segment that suits the needs of most households.

Mr. Bui Tien Dung, Product Category Manager at MediaMart Chua Hang, said: “Air conditioner sales during the hot season have risen by 30 to 50 percent compared to the same period last year. Most customers choose products priced between 6 and 8 million VND, with capacities ranging from 9,000 to 12,000 BTU. Consumers are also paying more attention to energy-saving features and after-sales services”.

For consumers, purchasing cooling appliances is no longer a temporary need but an essential solution to protect family health during prolonged hot weather.

Mr. Luong Si Hiep from Dong Hy Commune, Thai Nguyen Province, noted: “The hot weather makes daily life exhausting. After work, our children need proper rest to maintain their health, so the family decided to buy an air conditioner to make life more comfortable”.

The surge in demand has also created a heavy workload for refrigeration installation technicians, especially during peak heatwave days.

Mr. Bui Manh Hung, a refrigeration technician, said: “During hot days, our workload increases several times compared to normal periods. We work from early morning until late at night. People should use air conditioners at reasonable temperatures and carry out regular maintenance so the units can operate efficiently, save electricity, and last longer”.

The intense heatwave is driving strong growth in Thai Nguyen’s electronics and cooling appliance market. Changes in consumer behavior also reflect rising demand for better living standards and health protection amid increasingly harsh weather conditions.
