Preventing cold stress and starvation in livestock

The Thai Nguyen Department of Agriculture and Environment and the provincial Sub-department of Livestock Production, Animal Health and Fisheries are conducting inspections of measures to prevent cold stress, starvation, and disease in livestock during the Winter-Spring season of 2025-2026 in Northern, remote, and mountainous areas of the province.

The inspection, conducted from January 8 to 13, focused on assessing the implementation of directives from central and provincial authorities; measures to reinforce shelters, stockpile feed and drinking water, and keep livestock warm; as well as vaccination, sanitation, disinfection, and prevention of dangerous diseases such as African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, and avian influenza.

Through these inspections, specialized agencies provided timely guidance and supervision to help farmers proactively apply technical measures, minimizing losses caused by severe cold and frost.
