Promoting active and healthy lifestyles among older people

Guided by the motto “Live happily, live healthily, live usefully,” elderly associations across Thai Nguyen Province have, in recent years, organized a wide range of cultural, artistic, sports, and healthcare activities, attracting strong participation from senior citizens. These efforts have not only enhanced the physical and mental well-being of older people but also contributed to building a more united and civilized community while spreading positive social values.

In Cho Don Commune, intergenerational clubs have been operating effectively for many years, drawing large numbers of elderly members. Offering a variety of activities such as then singing, tinh lute performances, traditional dances, and health exercises, these clubs provide meaningful recreational opportunities, improve health and well-being, and strengthen community bonds.

Mrs. Nong Thi Ha in Choong Hamlet, Cho Don Commune, shared: "Here, I have the opportunity to meet many friends. I find this club very beneficial."

Mrs. Nong Thi Ngoi also in Choong Hamlet, Cho Don Commune, said: "At the club, I take part in cultural performances and sports activities, particularly soft volleyball."

In Trung Than Hamlet, Dong Hy Commune, cultural, artistic, and sports activities are held regularly every month. More than 40 elderly members actively participate, exercising together, socializing, and sharing life experiences.

Mrs. Truong Thanh Tam, Head of the Elderly Association Chapter of Trung Than Hamlet, shared: "We develop activity plans with the primary goal of improving the health of older people, while also creating opportunities for them to socialize and learn from one another."

Mr. Nguyen Tien Loi, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Elderly Association, stressed: "In Thai Nguyen, the movements of 'Exemplary Grandparents' and 'All People Unite to Build a Cultural Lifestyle' have attracted a large number of elderly participants, demonstrating the active and pioneering role of older people in the community."

The growing influence of the “Live happily, live healthily, live usefully” movement has brought joy and fulfillment to older people while fostering humanitarian values, strengthening intergenerational connections, and contributing to a more civilized and compassionate society. It also provides a solid foundation for older people to continue serving, sharing their wisdom and experience to support the development of Thai Nguyen Province.
