Senior delegation from Luang Prabang (Laos) pays working visit to Thai Nguyen

On the afternoon of May 13, in Thai Nguyen Province, Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, met with a senior delegation from Luang Prabang Province of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, led by Mr. Bounleuam Manivong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council.

During the meeting, Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong briefed the delegation on the province’s socio-economic development. He emphasized that in recent years, cooperation between Thai Nguyen and localities in Laos, including Luang Prabang, has continued to be strengthened and expanded, particularly in education and human resource training.

Currently, Thai Nguyen Province is home to 1,004 Lao students studying and conducting research, including 50 from Luang Prabang. Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong expressed his hope that both sides will further promote cooperation between departments, agencies, mass organizations, and training institutions; enhance trade promotion and business connectivity; cooperate in developing eco-tourism and community-based tourism; and promote tea culture and key agricultural products of each locality.

Mr. Bounleuam Manivong expressed his gratitude to Thai Nguyen for supporting the construction of a secondary school in Luang Prabang City and providing machinery and medical equipment for Covid-19 prevention and control efforts.

Both sides also exchanged views on measures to further strengthen cooperation in the coming period in line with the signed memorandum of understanding, contributing to preserving and promoting the long-standing traditional relationship between the two Parties, the two States, and the peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
