On July 18, the Vietnam–Laos Friendship Association in Thai Nguyen province held a conference to review its performance in the first six months of 2026, outline key tasks for the last month of the year, and consolidate its Executive Committee for the 2024–2029 term.

The association currently has more than 600 members. During the first half of 2026, it effectively carried out a wide range of people-to-people diplomacy activities, contributing to strengthening the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
The association organized Lunar New Year and Bunpimay (Lao New Year) celebrations for Lao students studying in Thai Nguyen. It also organized two trips for officials and veterans to visit historical sites in Laos.
In addition, a delegation was sent to Bolikhamxay Province to hold working sessions and sign memoranda of understanding between organizations, localities and businesses of Thai Nguyen and Bolikhamxay.
In the second half of 2026, the association plans to organize a scientific seminar to mark the 64th anniversary of Vietnam–Laos diplomatic relations. It will also launch the Vietnam–Laos Singing Contest, along with other activities.
At the conference, delegates elected Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hoa as Chairman of the Vietnam–Laos Friendship Association in Thai Nguyen province for the 2024-2029 term.
