Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung, Director of Thai Nguyen University, and Vice Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh sign an agreement on human resource training cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh, leaders of provincial departments, vocational education institutions and businesses, as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung, Director of Thai Nguyen University, and leaders of its member universities.

During the 2021–2025 period, cooperation between Lao Cai and Thai Nguyen University achieved positive results. The university’s Lao Cai campus trained 1,596 local students, with an employment rate of more than 98 percent. Thai Nguyen University also conducted research and technology transfer in high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism, medicinal plants and digital transformation, while implementing various community-based activities.

At the meeting, participants discussed measures to improve training quality and meet the province’s workforce needs, particularly for doctors at grassroots-level healthcare facilities, English and IT teachers, and personnel for logistics, processing and manufacturing, and tourism.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung proposed four key areas of cooperation. These include developing a second campus of Thai Nguyen University in Lao Cai under a “University City” model, with an expected capacity of 20,000 to 30,000 students; establishing a regional innovation center; providing training based on actual workforce needs, including grassroots-level officials, healthcare personnel and highly qualified human resources for industrial parks and the semiconductor industry; and renewing and specifying the comprehensive cooperation agreement.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Hien Hanh asked provincial departments and agencies to conduct a detailed assessment of training needs and develop a cooperation plan with Thai Nguyen University. The cooperation plan is expected to be finalized by August 30.
