Along with students across the country, more than 400,000 students in Thai Nguyen officially began the 2026-2027 school year. This school year starts on a new foundation, following major changes in the organizational structure, the school network, and management methods.

More than 1,500 students at Huynh Thuc Khang Primary and Secondary School joyfully welcome the new school year.

More than 1,500 students at Huynh Thuc Khang Primary and Secondary School joyfully welcome the new school year.

The flag-raising ceremony, the singing of the national anthem, and the school opening drum ceremony were held simultaneously, creating a shared opening-day moment across the country. In this atmosphere, opening ceremonies were also held simultaneously at educational institutions across Thai Nguyen Province.

One of the biggest changes ahead of the new school year is the restructuring of the school network. After the restructuring, the province has 424 public educational institutions, a reduction of 505 institutions. There are also 523 branch campuses and 578 satellite school sites. A new school network has basically been established.

Along with organizational changes comes the challenge of facilities and staff. The province currently has 13,658 classrooms. A review shows that for the 2026-2027 school year, there is still a shortage of 1,357 classrooms and 351 subject classrooms, as well as many functional rooms and supporting facilities. Along with facilities, the shortage of teachers is another challenge.

For the 2026-2027 school year, the Thai Nguyen education sector has identified its theme as: “Innovative Thinking - Strong Transformation - Substantive Results”.

This is not merely the theme for one school year. It also reflects the need to move decisively from direction to action, from resource investment to actual effectiveness, and from changes in form to substantive improvements in teaching and learning quality.
