Using local budget, Thai Nguyen city has decided to invest over 158 billion VND in constructing the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway overpass (at the intersection of Quang Trung road and Viet Bac road). The construction cost is over 123 billion VND, the cost of compensation for land clearance is 17.7 billion VND, and the rest are other expenses.

By design, the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway overpass has a total length of 620m (246m in length, the rest are roads on both sides of the bridge). The bridge consists of 6 spans of composite steel girders, 8.5m wide (including 0.5m per side balustrade); reinforced concrete abutment.
The designed speed on the overpass is 40 kilometers per hour. The roads on both sides of the bridge will be paved with asphalt concrete. The project also includes other items such as sidewalks, curbs, median barriers, drainage systems, and lighting.
To date, Thai Nguyen has completed the steps of selecting contractors according to regulations and is scheduled to commence construction in this month of July, aiming to complete and put the project into operation in January 2024.
When the project is completed and put into use, it will solve congestion and limit traffic conflicts at the intersection between Hoang Van Thu - Quang Trung - Viet Bac roads and Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway; strengthening urban transport connections, attracting investment.
