From the final months of 2025, following timber harvesting, forest-growing households in La Bang Commune cleared vegetation, prepared planting holes, and contacted nurseries to secure seedlings in time for replanting. After the Lunar New Year holiday, residents simultaneously launched tree planting activities, completing approximately 1/3 of the planned area to date.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Phuc Lam Hamlet, La Bang Commune, said: “My family has replanted more than one hectare after harvesting. The entire hamlet plans to plant six hectares of new forest and has basically completed the target. Favorable weather and forest road systems invested in recent years have facilitated the transportation of materials, harvesting, and forest care”.
In 2026, localities under the management of Forest Protection Sub-Department No. 12 will plant more than 480 hectares of concentrated forest and over 170,000 dispersed trees. To ensure both productivity and quality, forest protection officers have closely coordinated with local authorities to guide residents on planting techniques and care methods, ensuring that each species is planted in the appropriate season.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nguyen, owner of a nursery in Ha Cam Hamlet, An Khanh Commune, shared: “Timber prices were favorable last year, so many households harvested their forests. As a result, replanting activities have increased this year. Forest protection officers have provided thorough guidance on planting and caring techniques”.

With the accelerated pace of spring afforestation, positive results have been recorded province-wide. To date, nearly 810 hectares out of the 7,500-hectare annual target for concentrated planting have been completed, reaching nearly 11 percent of the yearly plan. For dispersed tree planting, nearly 349,000 out of 1.5 million trees have been planted, achieving over 23 percent of the annual target.
Mr. Trieu Duc Van, Deputy Director of Thai Nguyen Department of Agriculture and Environment, informed: “Recognizing this as a key task, from the beginning of 2026, we have issued plans, technical guidelines, and support policies to enable residents to participate in afforestation and contribute to socio-economic development”.
With proactive preparation of seedlings, vegetation clearance, and immediate implementation after the Lunar New Year, the 2026 afforestation plan is progressing in line with the seasonal framework and technical requirements. This not only enhances productivity and the value of planted forests but also moves toward sustainable forest management under FSC standards and participation in the carbon credit market.
