On the afternoon of March 3, a working delegation of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the National Election Council, led by General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defence, held a working session with leaders of Thai Nguyen Province to supervise and inspect preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

As of February 8, Thai Nguyen Province had 1,282,047 voters and a total of 454,989 households. According to the current list, the province has 20 candidates running for the 16th National Assembly in five constituencies; 90 candidates running for the provincial People’s Council in 29 constituencies; and 3,068 candidates running for commune-level People’s Councils for the 2026–2031 term. Election preparations across the province have been carried out seriously, in a coordinated manner, on schedule, and in compliance with regulations.
Speaking at the inspection session, General Phan Van Giang highly appreciated the province’s serious and methodical preparations, noting the active involvement of the entire political system in the election work.
Regarding key tasks from now until election day, he requested that the province regularly update central guidelines on election work for timely implementation and closely monitor each locality with its specific characteristics in order to promptly address any arising issues.
