Ensuring voting rights for persons in temporary custody and detention

In preparation for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, the Detention Facility No. 1 under the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police has urgently and simultaneously made the necessary preparations to enable persons in temporary custody and detention to exercise their voting rights in accordance with the law.

As of March 1, 2026, the unit had more than 750 persons in temporary custody and detention eligible to exercise their voting rights. The unit has coordinated with relevant agencies to prepare adequate communication materials, receive and issue voter cards, and publicly post lists of candidates in compliance with regulations.

To date, 100% of persons in temporary custody and detention at the facility have been informed and guided on participation in the election.

With thorough preparations, a strong sense of responsibility, and strict security measures in place, Detention Facility No. 1 is determined to ensure absolute safety for the election while fully safeguarding the lawful rights and interests of persons in temporary custody and detention, contributing to the overall success of this nationwide civic event.
