| Leaders of Cao Bang, Lang Son, and Thai Nguyen provinces sign a memorandum of understanding on socio-economic development cooperation. |
According to assessments of the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, Thai Nguyen ranks second in the region in terms of economic scale and has the highest GRDP per capita. Meanwhile, Cao Bang has the smallest economic scale and the lowest GRDP per capita, while Lang Son ranks sixth among the region’s nine provinces. However, each locality has its own strengths and advantages. Proactively promoting regional linkages and strategic infrastructure connectivity, and leveraging comparative advantages, will enable the provinces to support one another in economic development.
At the conference, delegates focused discussions on two core issues: solutions for implementing the investment projects to build the Bac Kan – Cao Bang expressway and the Tuyen Quang – Thai Nguyen – Lang Son expressway. In addition, the three localities exchanged views and shared practical experience across a wide range of other fields.
In a spirit of responsible dialogue, the three provinces agreed on several areas of cooperation related to regional linkages. They also reached consensus on proposing a number of support measures to the central authorities during implementation, with a view to expanding development space, improving people’s livelihoods, and making positive contributions to the overall development of the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region and the country as a whole.
