Building Thai Nguyen into a center for industry, urban, services, education, and healthcare

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently signed Decision No. 369/QD-TTg approving the Master Plan for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The planning scope and boundaries of the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region cover 14 provinces: Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, Lang Son, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Son La, Tuyen Quang, and Yen Bai.

According to the spatial organization plan based on sub-regions, dynamic regions, growth poles, and corridors linked to the Hanoi Capital Region and economic corridors, including border belts connected to border gates. In the period from 2031 to 2050, the goal is to strive for an average annual growth rate of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of about 7.5 – 8 percent across the region.

Thai Nguyen is planned to become a center for industry, urban, services, education, and healthcare for the Sub-region and Region.

To achieve the goals, the Government will prioritize investment in projects that are pivotal, innovative, highly effective, and serve as leverage to catalyze the development process of the Region.
