Proactive management and effective utilization of water resources

During the 2021-2025 period, water resource management in Thai Nguyen province recorded many positive developments. The Provincial People’s Committee issued and implemented plans to enforce the Law on Water Resources, and announced the list of internal water sources as well as areas where groundwater exploitation is prohibited or restricted.

Thai Nguyen sets a target that by 2030, 100% of water exploitation facilities will be licensed and monitored in accordance with regulations.

Across Thai Nguyen Province, more than 300 water resources licenses have been granted. Inspection and supervision activities have been gradually strengthened, contributing to improved compliance with legal regulations.

In response to the need to ensure water security, adapt to climate change, and support industrial and urban development, the province has set targets for 2030. These include ensuring that 100 percent of water extraction facilities are licensed and monitored in accordance with regulations; completing the identification of water source protection corridors; strengthening monitoring and pollution control; and generating 100 billion VND in state budget revenue from water exploitation rights during the 2026–2030 period.
