On the afternoon of March 10, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Head of the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development, chaired the committee’s first meeting. The meeting was held in person and connected online with provinces and cities nationwide. At the venue of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee, the meeting was chaired by Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Loan.

Vietnam has many favorable conditions for developing the semiconductor industry. The country currently has more than 170 foreign-invested projects in this field, with a total registered capital of nearly USD 11.6 billion. Vietnamese enterprises and engineers have gradually participated in several stages of the industry’s value chain. Thai Nguyen Province has issued several plans to implement the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy, while promoting human resource training and developing STEM and STEAM education in schools. The province currently has 13 industrial parks, six of which are already operational, attracting 362 valid projects with a total registered capital of more than USD 12.7 billion.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that the semiconductor industry is a key sector that will drive economic growth and enhance Vietnam’s position in the global value chain. He called on ministries, sectors and localities to strengthen coordination, improve policy mechanisms, accelerate human resource training, and prepare synchronized infrastructure to attract investment and promote the development of the semiconductor industry in the coming period.
