Following the merger of administrative boundaries, several hamlets and villages in Thai Nguyen Province remain deep in mountainous areas, with fragmented terrain and weak or unstable telecommunications infrastructure. This has caused major difficulties in communications and access to digital services, especially in healthcare, education, public administration, and disaster prevention and response. Just over five weeks after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group Viettel and the Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee on digital transformation, as of February 9, 2026, Viettel had completed signal coverage in 10 out of 20 villages. The remaining 10 villages are in the final installation phase and are committed to completion before February 15, ensuring residents have full connectivity during the Lunar New Year holiday.
At the program, provincial leaders presented smartphones to representatives of 20 hamlets and villages in “no-signal areas” across 9 Northern communes of the province.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee also commended and rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in carrying out the task of eliminating telecommunications “no-signal areas” in the province.
