Applying science and technology in livestock farming

Currently, Thai Nguyen Province has more than 1,600 livestock farms, including around 80 large-scale operations. Promoting the application of science and technology in livestock farming is helping the province’s agricultural sector gradually transition from traditional production methods to more modern, efficient, and sustainable practices.

Tan Phu Organic Free-range Chicken Cooperative is one of the pioneering models in applying science and technology to poultry farming in Tan Khanh Commune. From technically standard-designed housing to feed and water supply systems, as well as the entire chicken care process from hatching to maturity, all stages are closely monitored under a closed production model.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen, Director of Tan Phu Organic Free-range Chicken Cooperative, said: “For commercial egg production, we use a special cage system. When the hens lay eggs, the eggs automatically roll out, ensuring cleanliness. In addition, all other processes are fully automated”.

Alongside cooperatives, many livestock households across the province are increasingly paying attention to environmental management. The use of biological products and probiotics in animal husbandry helps minimize the direct discharge of waste into the environment, contributing to the development of safe and environmentally friendly farming areas.

Mr. Pham Quang Phuc, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Livestock and Veterinary Association, informed: “Most large- and medium-scale livestock farms have adopted closed housing systems, with fully automated feeding and drinking water systems in place”.

It can be affirmed that the application of science and technology in livestock farming is creating an important transformation for Thai Nguyen’s agricultural sector, helping to increase farmers’ incomes, protect the environment, and move toward a green, clean, and sustainable agriculture.
