According to the report, the Thai Nguyen Municipal Solid Waste Treatment and Waste-to-Energy Plant is designed with a capacity of 10 megawatts and is expected to operate during the 2026–2030 period. The Thai Nguyen Industrial and Medical Solid Waste Treatment Plant will process approximately 600 tonnes per day.
During the inspection, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized the requirement to finalize the overall planning for waste treatment zones. He assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently complete the documentation, fully update technical requirements, and report to the Provincial People’s Committee at the early-week briefing session. The guiding principle is to finalize investor selection in the first quarter of 2026 so that construction can commence immediately thereafter. The construction period is expected to be about 18 months. Once the waste-to-energy plant operates stably, the province will gradually close the existing landfill and fully transition to waste treatment through waste-to-energy incineration technology.
