Speaking at the meeting, Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam He Wei highly appreciated the increasingly important role and position of Thai Nguyen Province in the Northern Key Economic Region. Thai Nguyen is also a locality rich in historical traditions, bearing the imprint of the friendly relations between the two countries, and was the location of the first Chinese Embassy in Viet Nam.

According to the Ambassador, with its dynamic development pace, increasingly synchronized infrastructure, and continuously improving investment environment, Thai Nguyen is emerging as a new growth pole of the Hanoi Capital Region, attracting the attention of many investors, including Chinese enterprises.

In his remarks, Secretary Trinh Xuan Truong expressed sincere thanks for the attention of the Chinese Embassy, and affirmed that the province always attaches great importance to and wishes to promote comprehensive and effective cooperation with Chinese partners, particularly in the fields of investment, trade, and industrial development.

At present, the province is home to about 150 Chinese enterprises with total investment capital exceeding USD 2 billion; the value of imports from China into enterprises operating in Thai Nguyen Province reaches nearly USD 3 billion, but this figure is still not commensurate with the province’s potential and strengths.

In addition to economic cooperation, the Provincial Party Secretary proposed that the Chinese Embassy pay attention to promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges, as well as cooperation in education and training and healthcare. He also expressed his hope that the Embassy would support the strengthening of sub-national cooperation, particularly with Sichuan Province, based on the memorandum of understanding signed by the leaders of the two provinces in 2024.

The Chinese Embassy affirmed its readiness to serve as a bridge between Thai Nguyen and Chinese associations and major enterprises, and to coordinate in studying and developing mechanisms and models for investment attraction that could serve as benchmarks for attracting Chinese businesses and investors. In the immediate term, a large-scale investment promotion conference will be organized, featuring a distinctive brand and identity of Thai Nguyen Province.
