Masan High-Tech Materials (MHT) has been honored as a “National Green ESG Enterprise 2025”, recognizing the company’s consistent and comprehensive efforts to integrate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into its long-term development strategy, in pursuit of sustainable growth and Net Zero emissions.

The award was presented at the National Green Environment Program, jointly organized by the Institute for Green Growth Research and the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, at a ceremony held on December 20.

The recognition is based on an evaluation framework of 30 ESG criteria, benchmarked against international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), while being adapted to Vietnam’s local context. Masan High-Tech Materials was acknowledged as a pioneer in embedding ESG as a core pillar of its operations, supported by a structured roadmap, robust data systems, and measurable outcomes.

In 2025, Masan Tungsten Company (MTC) – the group’s deep-processing tungsten facility – achieved RMAP (Responsible Minerals Assurance Process) certification, one of the world’s most reputable standards for responsible mineral sourcing. This certification underscores MHT’s capability to meet global ESG requirements and enables its tungsten products to integrate more deeply into high-tech and advanced manufacturing supply chains worldwide. In parallel, MTC maintains internationally recognized certifications including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 50001:2018, reflecting strong performance in quality, environmental, and energy management.

As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, Masan High-Tech Materials has established ESG objectives for the 2025–2030 period, alongside a phased carbon emissions reduction roadmap. In 2024, the company finalized its ESG KPI framework for 2025–2030, providing a consistent and systematic foundation for implementation. Under this roadmap, MHT targets a minimum 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to the 2023 baseline, while aiming to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2045, in alignment with global climate action efforts.

To realize these commitments, Masan High-Tech Materials continues to invest in advanced technologies and innovation across its mining and mineral processing operations, while actively promoting circular economy models and post-mining environmental rehabilitation programs.

In 2025, the company further strengthened innovation through its MHTers Initiative Program, delivering multiple solutions to reduce emissions and optimize resource efficiency. These include the reuse of low-grade lime for acid neutralization and the reprocessing of tailings. Currently, 78% of wastewater is recycled and reused, significantly reducing pressure on natural resources while enhancing long-term economic efficiency. In parallel, MHT is implementing energy crop planting on reclaimed mine land as a sustainable land-use and environmental restoration solution, in collaboration with international research institutions to ensure scientific rigor and scalability.

Beyond environmental and governance priorities, Masan High-Tech Materials places strong emphasis on people and local communities as central to its sustainability strategy. The company is committed to providing a positive and safe working environment, investing in workforce development, and enhancing human capital quality. It also implements a wide range of community development and social welfare programs, focusing on clean water access, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and livelihood development in its areas of operation. These initiatives are designed based on local needs and delivered in close coordination with authorities and relevant stakeholders to ensure lasting impact and sustainable socio-economic development.

Mr. Phan Chien Thang, representative of the company management stated: “Masan High-Tech Materials remains committed to accelerating ESG implementation, advancing toward Net Zero, and building responsible global supply chains. By participating in the National Green Environment Program 2025, we aim to contribute to a collaborative network that inspires positive action for a greener and more sustainable Vietnam”.
