Thai Nguyen accelerates green transition to meet EU standards

On March 26, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee worked with Professor Claudio Dordi from Bocconi University, Milan (Italy), along with his expert delegation. Mr. Le Anh Hoang, deputy director of the CODE Development Consultancy Institute and director of Carbon Giant Bard Financial Company, also participated in the delegation.

Leaders from the Departments of Finance, Industry and Trade, Agriculture, and Environment also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged information on the green transition field and discussed promoting investment and trade activities in Europe. Professor Claudio Dordi shared research materials on the green transition in Europe. He recommended solutions to support Vietnamese businesses in making the green transition, boosting exports to meet EU green regulations and policies, and Vietnam's commitments to sustainable development, circular economy, and climate change adaptation. At the same time, the focus was on promoting scientific research, technology application, innovation, and digital transformation, as well as enhancing capacity building, training, and disseminating domestic and international legal policies.

Based on the information exchanged and the expert delegation's policy recommendations, Chairman Nguyen Huy Dung stated that Thai Nguyen actively and proactively promotes the green transition to meet EU green standards. To continue advancing this initiative in the coming time, the Chairman has tasked the Department of Science and Technology with developing a plan and proactively researching new green transition policies from Europe, the US, and Japan. The aim is to make recommendations for significant policies in Thai Nguyen's green transition plan for the period 2026-2030 and, at the same time, invite Professor Claudio Dordi to serve as an advisor on this topic.
