Thai Nguyen, February 27, 2025, Masan High-Tech Materials (MHT) - the owner of Vietnam’s largest tungsten mine, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Australian Embassy, led by Ms. Cecilia Brennan, Acting Deputy Head of Mission. The delegation also included top Australian economists and geologists, as well as leading industry consultants. This visit provided an opportunity for MHT to showcase its tungsten manufacturing facilities and sustainable mining practices while strengthening partnership with Australian mining businesses.

Exploring a World-Class Mining Operation at Nui Phao
During their visit to Nui Phao, a world-class polymetallic tungsten mine, the Australian delegation witnessed firsthand the structured mining operations, advanced technological applications, and one of the most sophisticated tungsten refining models in the region.

Mr. James Knowles, Technical Director and Geology Specialist at Measured Group, a leading Australian mining consultancy, remarked: "I am truly impressed with MHT’s advanced mining and processing technologies, which effectively optimize the extraction of Nui Phao’s complex polymetallic ore body. MHT has applied cutting-edge mid-stream processing technologies to maximize resource value, creating a sustainable competitive advantage."
The Australian delegation highly commended MHT’s clear strategic vision, particularly its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable community development. MHT’s ESG initiatives, including the economic development loan fund, new rural development programs, educational support, life skills training, and disaster relief fund, have created significant impact, improving the quality of life for local communities. This further cements MHT’s position as a modern, responsible mining enterprise dedicated to sustainable growth.

The Australian Embassy’s visit to MHT was part of the Vietnam Mining Law Technical Workshop. This visit allowed Australian experts to gain deeper insights into the operational realities of a Vietnamese mining enterprise and directly assess the challenges facing the industry. Their firsthand observations will contribute to policy development and foster strategic collaboration between mining businesses in both countries.

Tungsten sourced from Vietnam and Australia is gaining significant attention from global industrial corporations and manufacturers. This visit was conducted within the framework of the Vietnam Mining Law Technical Workshop, organized by the Australian Embassy from February 26–28 in Hanoi. At the event, MHT CEO Ashley McAleese delivered a keynote presentation on sustainable mining practices at MHT in Vietnam, the regulatory challenges faced by the company, and MHT’s contributions to the development of Vietnam’s mining policy framework.
