WEEK IN REVIEW (From January 1 to January 7, 2024)

Thai Nguyen 2023 has 41 new FDI projects, with a total capital of over 253.3 million USD, especially 17 capital increase projects (with 136.2 million USD). To date, the province has 211 active projects with a total investment capital of 10.72 billion USD. 

Indonesia's tourism sector could potentially generate up to 25 billion USD in additional revenue through the implementation of a visa-free entry policy for foreigners, according to Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.

According to the Digital Economy in Vietnam 2023 report, Thai Nguyen ranked the 2nd province and cities nationwide on the share of digital economy in the provincial output, gaining about 42.92 percent. The province topped 5 biggest-scale provinces and cities nationwide in the digital economy (Information technologies and communication services). ​​​​​​​

After almost 10 years, we had the opportunity to return to Suoi Cat hamlet, Ha Thuong commune, Dai Tu district. The road to the hamlet’s Cultural House is now widened and concreted with two lanes. On both sides of the roadways we saw lush green rice fields, and nice large houses. What impressed us the most during this visit is the cultural exhibition corner of the Cao Lan ethnic minority people, a distinctive cultural space supported by Nui Phao Mining Company. 

As of 9 pm on January 1, there had been no Vietnamese people reported dead or injured in the 7.6-magnitude earthquake that hit central Japan earlier the same day, according to Vietnam Embassy in Japan.

The National Assembly’s resolution on the socio-economic development plan for 2024 sets a target of 6.0-6.5% growth in gross domestic product (GDP) for the year, while per capita income is expected to reach 4,700-4,730 USD.
