Thai Nguyen has recognized 277 craft villages (including 184 traditional and 93 craft villages). Among them, there are 256 tea craft villages (accounting for over 92 percent), seven agricultural product processing craft villages, 11 carpentry, fine arts, bamboo and rattan weaving, and mat weaving craft villages, as well as 3 ornamental creature craft villages.

These craft villages employ more than 42,000 laborers, with an average monthly income of 4.5-5 million VND per person. In recent times, the preservation and development of craft villages have always been a matter of concern and direction from the province. The provincial People's Committee, as well as the departments, committees, and People's Committees of districts and cities, have formulated and implemented guiding documents, programs, and production development support projects to concretize support policies for craft villages, cooperatives, grassroots production units, and households in craft villages. They also support cooperative groups in craft villages in building OCOP (One Commune One Product) products and exemplary agricultural products...

From now until 2025, Thái Nguyên will continue implementing craft village support programs, strive to recognize 12 new craft villages, aim for over 70 percent of craft villages to operate effectively, and ensure that at least half of craft villages have products classified as OCOP products.
