To date, Thai Nguyen has completed six rounds of evaluation under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, with 313 product entries rated from 3 to 5 stars. Among them, 195 are tea products, accounting for 62.3 percent of the province’s total OCOP-certified items.

The recognition of tea products under the OCOP program has significantly elevated the Thai Nguyen tea brand and enhanced the economic value of tea cultivation in the region.
The recognition of tea products under the OCOP program has significantly elevated the Thai Nguyen tea brand and enhanced the economic value of tea cultivation in the region.

Notably, two premium tea products, Tom Non and Dinh from Hao Dat Tea Cooperative (Tan Cuong, Thai Nguyen City) have earned 5-star OCOP ratings. In 2025, the province plans to develop another high-quality tea product, Tom Non Huong Que from Phu Luong Agricultural Cooperative, to achieve the same top-tier certification.

OCOP-certified products, particularly tea, meet strict quality, food safety, and environmental sustainability standards. With attractive, eco-friendly packaging and diverse designs, these products are increasingly recognized for their value and quality, gaining consumer trust. Many have also been selected as official gifts at national and local diplomatic events and conferences.

As Thai Nguyen rolls out initiatives to transform its tea industry into a billion-dollar sector within the next five years, the growing number of OCOP tea products is expected to strengthen the regional brand and boost the overall value of tea cultivation.
