Thai Nguyen seeks trade and investment opportunities in Cuba and US

To enhance international cooperation, promote investment and trade, and attract resources for socio-economic development, Thai Nguyen Province has established a working delegation to visit and promote investment and trade in Cuba and the US. Mr. Trinh Viet Hung, Member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee led by the delegation. The delegation includes Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of several departments and units, and representatives of some enterprises currently investing in the province.

According to the plan from November 8 to 16, the delegation engaged in various activities such as participating in the Vietnam-Cuba Business Forum, meeting and exchanging investment cooperation opportunities with the Cuban Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodriguez, President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Antonio Luis Carricarte, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba, Le Thanh Tung, and Cuban enterprises. 

The delegation will also have diplomatic meetings with the First Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz; visit and work at the Mariel Special Development Zone; survey the management and development of tourism in the city of Matanzas; participate in a workshop with Vietnamese-US enterprises; work with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce (USA); and attend business networking events during the 30th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Week (to be held in San Francisco, USA)...

Upon arrival in Havana, Cuba, on November 8, the Thai Nguyen delegation held meetings and exchanged investment cooperation opportunities with the Cuban Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodriguez, President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Antonio Luis Carricarte, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung. The delegation also attended the Vietnam-Cuba Business Forum and visited the 39th Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2023).

During the meetings and exchanges, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trinh Viet Hung expressed his thanks for the warm reception from the Cuban side. He openly discussed the investment cooperation opportunities for Cuban enterprises in Thai Nguyen and vice versa. He expressed the desire for the Cuban Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodriguez, President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce Antonio Luis Carricarte, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung to continue supporting and facilitating the realization of cooperation opportunities, contributing to the development of Thai Nguyen Province and the overall relationship between Vietnam and Cuba. Through this, he aimed to strengthen the good traditional relations between the two Parties, the two States and the people of Vietnam and Cuba.

At the Vietnam-Cuba Business Forum, the Organizing Committee allocated significant time for the Thai Nguyen and Long An delegations to introduce investment cooperation opportunities in their localities. Thai Nguyen Province hoped that Cuban enterprises would explore investment in several areas, including industrial park infrastructure, industrial clusters, tourism infrastructure, trade and services, and green and smart urban development.

The priority investment projects inviting investment in Thai Nguyen Province include 64 projects, categorized into 7 projects in industrial parks and information technology infrastructure, 36 in industrial clusters, and 17 in agriculture and environment. The delegation from Thai Nguyen expressed confidence that Cuban investors would feel assured when implementing projects in the province due to its existing potential and strong commitments.

In his speech, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trinh Viet Hung affirmed that with the existing potential and advantages, Thai Nguyen Province believes Cuban investors will feel confident when implementing projects in the province. He also expressed the hope for continued support and connection from the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba to provide more opportunities for cooperation between foreign investors, especially those from Cuba, contributing to the prosperous and sustainable development of Thai Nguyen Province and further enhancing the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.

At the Forum, Cuban media agencies, enterprises from various provinces and cities in Vietnam, and Cuban trade and investment experts expressed deep interest in introducing the potential and advantages of Thai Nguyen Province. They were impressed by the provincial leaders' open discussion of investment cooperation opportunities, which strengthened their belief in the investment environment and incentives provided by Thai Nguyen Province.

Concluding the Forum, the Minister of Transportation of Cuba, the President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba, leaders of Thai Nguyen and Long An provinces, and representatives of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) attended the signing ceremony of the Council's Plan for 2023-2024 and visited the 39th Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2023).
