Thai Nguyen: Index of Industrial Production increases by over 6 percent

The provincial industrial production in August shows a significant increase compared to the previous month. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose by 6.01 percent compared to the last month and 4.5 percent compared to the same period the previous year.

Specifically, August’s IIP of the processing and manufacturing industries surged to 6.26 percent. This was due to the introduction of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Fold 5 by Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd., which was launched at the end of July. In the water supply, waste management, and wastewater treatment sector, there was a 3.91 percent increase. The mining industry saw a 1.6 percent growth, while the electricity production and distribution sector experienced a decline of 7.43 percent.

Overall, during the first 8 months of 2023, the IIP increased by 4.01 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Among these figures, the processing and manufacturing industry expanded by 4.03 percent, electricity production and distribution grew by 6.04 percent, and the water supply, waste management, and wastewater treatment sector surged by 14.7 percent. However, the mining industry experienced a decline of 3.72 percent.
