Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT) receives the Third Class Labor Medal

On April 20, Samsung Vietnam celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT), and received the Third Class Labor Medal. 

The delegates attended the celebration.

Attending the Celebration, there were Mr. Le Minh Khai - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and leader of the Government Office, Office of the National Assembly, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2013, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT) officially received an investment license in Thai Nguyen with an initial capital of USD 2 billion. After only 1 year, SEVT company increased its capital by USD 3 billion and reached USD 5 billion in total investment capital. After that, Samsung invested in new projects and expanded in Thai Nguyen. Up to now, Samsung's investment capital has reached over USD 7.5 billion in Thai Nguyen.

To date, after 15 years, Samsung is now the largest investor in Vietnam with total investment capital increased nearly 30 times, to about USD 20 billion by the end of 2022. Up to now, Samsung's presence in Vietnam includes 6 factories, 1 Research and Development center, and 1 sales legal entity.

The presence of SEVT company has created a strong spillover to Thai Nguyen province's economy and society when it has attracted many investors in Samsung's global supply chain, bringing together new advantages and actively contributing to making Thai Nguyen Province one of the leading localities in the country in terms of industrial production value and export value.

Besides, SEVT company also directly creates stable jobs for tens of thousands of people in Thai Nguyen province as well as in the northern midland and mountainous provinces. Notably, among these, there is a large proportion of ethnic minority employees in disadvantaged localities and far-flung areas who have had opportunities to escape poverty, and have decent and stable incomes.

With the achievements and positive contributions to Thai Nguyen province in particular and Vietnam in general, within the framework of the 10th Anniversary, SEVT was honored to be awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President of Vietnam and received the emulation flags awarded by the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen Province. This is a great encouragement and spiritual encouragement for the persistent efforts of SEVT in particular and Samsung Vietnam in general over the past time, and at the same time creates motivation and determination for further investment and development steps in the future of Samsung in Vietnam.

However, with the comprehensive support of the Government and Thai Nguyen province authorities and the consensus of employees and suppliers, Samsung has overcome all and built the SEVT factory of today. In the coming time, Samsung Vietnam will unite with SEVT to deliver products on time, creating successes in the market together. Samsung will do its best to become an enterprise that accompanies Vietnam, a national enterprise that receives the love and affection of the Vietnamese people”.

At the event, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai acknowledged, highly appreciated and praised the efforts and proud results of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Company during 10 years of construction and development, contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam as well as serving as a bridge to promote deeper, stronger and more comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.

“This is an important milestone, marking the 10-year process of construction and development of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Company in particular and Samsung Group in general in Vietnam, is a vivid proof of the deep and substantive cooperation relationship, effective between the two countries Vietnam - Korea", Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasized.

In 2022, in the context of the global economy facing many difficulties, with efforts to contribute to Vietnam's economic recovery and development, Samsung Vietnam achieved an export turnover of USD 65 billion, accounting for about 17.5% of Vietnam's total export turnover in 2022, making an important contribution to helping Vietnam surpass USD 700 billion in import and export turnover for the first time and reach a record of USD 732.5 billion.

After 15 years, with good policies in treatment and care for employees, from only 500 employees in 2008, Samsung has now become a common home for more than 100,000 employees looking to establish long-term careers.

Not only that, Vietnamese enterprises participate more deeply in the global value chain and contribute significantly to the development of the electronics industry in Vietnam. Currently, the number of Vietnamese tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers in Samsung's global supply chain has increased tenfold, from 25 enterprises in 2014 to 257 enterprises by the end of 2022.
