Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that in 2025, natural disasters in Thai Nguyen Province became increasingly extreme, causing widespread damage, leaving 17 people dead and 13 injured, with losses estimated at more than VND 13.2 trillion. In particular, Storm No. 11 brought record-breaking rainfall, pushing the Cau River to a historic flood level and causing severe inundation.
In the aftermath, the province focused on recovery efforts while developing a medium-term public investment plan for the 2026–2030 period to implement irrigation and disaster prevention projects. However, infrastructure and equipment remain limited. The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, therefore, requested the Prime Minister to consider financial support for Thai Nguyen to carry out a project to build the right-bank Cau River dike section from Cao Ngan Bridge to Thac Huong Dam.
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister stressed the need for ministries, sectors, and localities to continue upholding the principle of proactive prevention; enhance forecasting and response capacity; and minimize disaster-related losses to the lowest possible level.
He also called for accelerated institutional improvements and synchronous, modern investment in disaster prevention infrastructure, aligned with sustainable socio-economic development planning.
