The 14th-term Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Council has just passed a Resolution adjusting the Provincial Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. This is an important milestone, reflecting a shift in development thinking, expanding development space, restructuring growth-driving regions and corridors, and affirming Thai Nguyen’s role as a growth pole in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region.

The adjusted Thai Nguyen Provincial Master Plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, continues to identify industry as the main driver of growth.
The adjusted Thai Nguyen Provincial Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, continues to identify industry as the main driver of growth.

With a structure of “three regions - five corridors,” the Provincial Master Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, clearly defines functions and strengthens development linkages: the northern region focuses on ecological conservation; the central region connects high-tech agriculture and satellite urban areas; and the southern region serves as the growth engine with industry, urban development, and high-quality services.

Mr. Tran Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Van Xuan Ward, said: "Van Xuan ward has proactively coordinated with consulting units, reported to specialized departments and sectors, and closely followed the leadership and direction of Thai Nguyen provincial leaders to develop plans for overall urban planning, industrial planning, and transport planning integrated into the province’s overall master plan".

Along with the three development regions, the adjusted plan organizes five key economic corridors, taking National Highway 3 (Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan - Cao Bang) as the backbone, connecting with the Cau River corridor, National Highway 3B, the Tuyen Quang - Thai Nguyen - Lang Son Expressway (National Highway 1B), and Ring Road 5. In particular, the plan continues to affirm industry as the primary growth driver. The number of industrial parks will increase from 20 to 38, with a total area of more than 14,155 hectares, mainly concentrated in the southern region.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Head of the Thai Nguyen Industrial Parks Management Board, informed: "Newly planned industrial parks continue to attract strong interest from infrastructure investors, and we also expect that in the coming period, when implementation begins, these industrial parks will soon accelerate progress to attract more investors".

A network of expressways, national highways, inland ports, logistics centers, and connecting transport routes has been identified as the foundation for Thai Nguyen’s breakthrough in the coming period.
A network of expressways, national highways, inland ports, logistics centers, and connecting transport routes has been identified as the foundation for Thai Nguyen’s breakthrough in the coming period.

The provincial plan identifies three strategic breakthroughs: a breakthrough in developing synchronous and modern infrastructure; improving the quality of human resources associated with innovation; and promoting the private sector and green economy, toward the goal that by 2050, Thai Nguyen will become a centrally governed city.

Ms. Duong Thi Hoa, Deputy Director of the Thai Nguyen Department of Finance, shared: "After the dossier was completed, the Department of Finance advised the Provincial People’s Committee to seek opinions from 16 ministries and sectors and six provinces bordering Thai Nguyen to ensure the coherence of the plan, while also ensuring the quality and content of the plan in line with the province’s long-term orientations".

With a long-term vision, a comprehensive approach, and strategic adjustments, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, is opening up new development space, creating momentum for Thai Nguyen to make breakthroughs and affirm its role as an important growth pole of the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region in a new development phase.
