Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital – A Strong Pillar of the Healthcare Sector in Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region

On the morning of November 2, a working delegation of Thai Nguyen Province, led by Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, conducted a field survey and working session at Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital.

As a special-grade hospital under the Ministry of Health, Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting the healthcare system of the northern midland and mountainous provinces. The hospital undertakes four key functions: providing medical examination and treatment; offering professional guidance to lower-level facilities; training and fostering medical personnel; and conducting scientific research and international cooperation.

In recent years, the hospital’s infrastructure and technical facilities have been comprehensively upgraded, with many items and pieces of equipment among the most advanced in the country’s healthcare system. The hospital currently has a capacity of nearly 1,700 planned beds and a staff of over 1,600 medical officers and employees. Each year, it treats approximately 90,000 inpatients, and performs an average of 160 surgeries per day, most of which involve high-level techniques.

Speaking at the working session, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Trịnh Xuân Trường emphasized that healthcare and education are two key pillars of social welfare. Thai Nguyen Province is developing a new healthcare development plan to concretize the resolutions of the Provincial Party Congress and Resolution No. 72 of the Politburo on breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of public health.

He requested that Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital enhance its professional guidance for hospitals in the northern part of the province, coordinate in training and technology transfer, and support local medical facilities in scientific research and international cooperation.

He affirmed that Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital is not only a centrally administered medical institution located in the province but also a solid foundation and driving force for Thai Nguyen’s healthcare sector, helping it achieve breakthroughs and better meet the people’s healthcare needs in the new era.
