On the morning of April 14, Nui Phao Mining collaborated with Doi Can High School (Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province) to host a career orientation program for 12th-grade students. The event attracted the participation of 164 students and marked the beginning of a journey to help them explore themselves, better understand career trends, and prepare for important choices in their future.

With the message “Know Yourself – Know Your Career – Choose the Right Path,” the program was designed to be engaging, combining both theory and practice through two models: SOFA (Self Assessment - Options - Focus - Actions) and VIPS (Values – Interests – Personality – Skills). Starting with thought-provoking questions such as “What makes you a good fit for a certain career?” or “Do you really understand what you want?”, students were encouraged to dive deeper into self-discovery and take a more active role in shaping their future.

The first session focused on self-identification using the SOFA and VIPS frameworks. Guided by representatives from Nui Phao’s Human Resources and Community Liaison departments, students were introduced to career concepts in a relatable and practical way.

Right from the beginning, students participated in an activity where they wrote down three words to describe themselves and shared them with a peer. This not only helped them reflect on their personal traits but also served as a foundation for analyzing individual factors within the SOFA and VIPS models and connecting those traits to career groups that match their strengths, interests, values, and personality.

Through specific examples, students were able to clearly identify: those who enjoy creativity and freedom may be suited to graphic design or communications; those who value stability may thrive in banking, law, or accounting; while outgoing students who enjoy social interaction may find their place in marketing, media, or tourism.

A key feature of the program was its strong link between theory and real-life application. It helped students not only recognize suitable career paths but also guided them in building personal development plans to stay proactive in a rapidly evolving job market.

Nguyen Thi Tra My, a 12A1 student, shared: “The session helped me better recognize my strengths and interests. For the first time, I feel confident when thinking about my future career.”

On behalf of the school, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Linh – Vice Principal – said: “This first session generated very positive engagement from students. They were proactive and excited. The school highly appreciates Nui Phao’s involvement in bringing a well-structured, in-depth, and practical program to our students.”

The program series is expected to continue with a second session focused on real-world experiences, personalized career counseling, and labor market connections. According to Nui Phao representatives, the program aims to support local students in making informed choices about their academic and professional paths.
