Thai Nguyen strives to preserve ancient tea trees as national heritage

It is one of the key directives from Mr. Trinh Viet Hung, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, during the presentation of the proposed plan for the development of Thai Nguyen's tea culture and tea-drinking art in 2025, organized by the Chien Cong Industrial and Transport Cooperative on February 5.

Mr. Trinh Viet Hung emphasized that Thai Nguyen has discovered dozens of ancient tea trees that are hundreds of years old. These are valuable heritage trees of the province. He requested that the Provincial People's Committee instruct the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and relevant departments to promptly prepare and complete the necessary documentation and procedures to register all the ancient tea trees in Minh Tien commune (Dai Tu) as National Heritage Trees. It will provide the legal foundation and favorable conditions for conservation, care, and promotion of their value. The Secretary also expressed a hope that experts, researchers, journalists, businesses, and entrepreneurs would continue to show interest and collaborate in preserving and promoting both the tangible and intangible values of the tea tree and tea products and elevating the tea culture of Thai Nguyen.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Pham Tan Cong, Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized that the tea culture has a unique appeal. The tea tree is a special plant, both an economic asset and an integral part of the cultural heritage. He confirmed that the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue to support Thai Nguyen in promoting the image and tea culture to the domestic and international business community. The program also received many heartfelt suggestions from cultural experts, scientists, and entrepreneurs, offering advice for Thai Nguyen to continue preserving, enhancing the brand, and increasing the value of Thai Nguyen tea products.
