Launch of voluntary blood donation campaign during Tet holiday and "Xuan Hong Festival" 2025

On January 15, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign of Thai Nguyen Province organized the Launching Ceremony of Xuan Hong Festival Blood Donation Campaign 2025 with the message "Donate Blood in Early Spring - Multiply Happiness".

Blood donation festival collects nearly 9,000 units nationwide

The Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign of Thai Nguyen Province gave flowers to blood donors.

According to statistics, Vietnam requires 2 million blood units annually, yet the received blood supply only meets nearly 60% of emergency and treatment needs. In Thai Nguyen province, during peak periods, approximately 100 to 150 blood units are needed daily for emergency and treatment purposes, but the average blood supply only meets about 70% of the demand. Many patients still require blood transfusions but cannot receive them due to insufficient supply. In such cases, patients must wait for blood availability, surgeries may be postponed and in severe cases, deaths may occur due to anemia...

According to information from the Steering Committee, for the past 5 years, with many positive measures, the voluntary blood donation movement of Thai Nguyen province has grown steadily and become a movement that attracts significant public attention. From 2020 to 2024, the province mobilized and received over 100,000 blood units, with more than 30,000 units collected in 2024 alone, supplying both central and local hospitals.

Immediately after the Launching Ceremony, over 1,000 people registered to donate blood. As a result, the Organizing Committee received 508 safe blood units. All of this blood will be transferred to provincial hospitals to address the shortage of blood for emergency treatment and patient care during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

Many individuals received Certificates of Merit for their outstanding achievements in blood donation

Xuan Hong Festival is organized to help address blood shortages in emergency care and patient treatment during Tet. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for healthy individuals to share their compassion with the community, thereby raising public awareness about blood donation and spreading the humanitarian blood donation movement throughout society.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation received "For Humanitarian Cause" Campaign Medal, the Certificate of Merit of the Provincial Red Cross Society.
