The 2024 National Drama Festival officially wrapped up in Thai Nguyen City, in the northern province of the same name, on June 26.

The festival aims to discover and honour collectives and individuals with achievements in developing the dramatic arts. This is also an opportunity for artists to exchange, gainexperiences, cultivate knowledge, and improve professional qualifications and the quality of dramatic art performances.
Spanning two weeks, beginning June 11, the festival gathered 19 professional and non-public drama art units featuring 23 outstanding performances.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, noted that the festival should be maintained and improved in terms of scale and quality.
He asked the functional agencies in charge of art units and theatres to continue to pay attention to and promote careful investment in both human and material resources for the competitions as well as to make special preferential policies to attract, nurture, and train the next generation of talented young artists, actors, and actresses.

At the closing ceremony, three gold medals were granted to the Vietnam National Drama Theatre for its play entitled “Dem trang” (Sleepless Night), the Hanoi National Drama Theatre for its play “Vong tron boi bac” (Circle of Betrayal), and the Hai Phong Drama Troupe for its play “Bat quy” (Catching ghosts).

The most excellent actors and actresses were also honoured with 32 gold medals and 49 silver medals.
In addition, the titles of the best author, director and painter were also granted to writer Chu Lai for the play “Vong tronboi bac”, Tran Luc for the play “Bup be” (Doll), and Do Doan Bang for the play “Ben nuoc thoi gian” (Wharf of Time).
