Trina Solar Group proposes additional investment of 420 million USD in Thai Nguyen

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang received in Hanoi on Sunday Gao Jifan, founder and CEO of Trina Solar Group of China, at the Government Office. 
The working session was attended by leaders of several central ministries and agencies, Mr. Gao JiFan, the founder and Chairman of Trina Solar Group, and the leaders of Trina Solar Group's member units in Vietnam.

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai, the Member of the Central Party Committee, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Trinh Viet Hung, the Alternate Member of the Central Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and the leaders of the Industrial Parks Management Board attended the working session.  

Established in 1997, Trina Solar Group operates mainly in research, development, production and sales of solar modules, solar power stations and system products, and operation and maintenance services. 

Jifan Gao, founder and CEO of Trina Solar Group of China, made the announcement at the working session.

In 2016, Trina Solar Group established Trina Solar Vietnam Energy Development Company Limited, headquartered in Yen Binh Industrial Park, Thai Nguyen province, with a total investment of more than 478 million USD. In particular, Trina Solar Energy Module Production Plant produces photovoltaic cells and solar modules production, with a registered investment of 203 million USD; Trina Solar Wafer Limited Company, producing silicon bars and single crystal silicon plates, has a registered investment of 275 million USD. 

In the third phase of the project, Trina Solar has proposed an additional investment of 420 million USD in Thai Nguyen. It is the most significant foreign investment of the Group in the photovoltaic sector. The leadership of Trina Solar expressed its desire to continue receiving attention and creating favorable conditions for research and investment in rooftop solar projects in Thai Nguyen.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that investing in renewable energy, particularly solar power, is in line with the global trend and Vietnam's development direction. Therefore, Trina Solar's decision to invest in Thai Nguyen in the photovoltaic sector is highly appropriate.

Deputy Prime Minister recommended that Trina Solar Group create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the supply chain of supporting equipment to benefit both sides. 

Regarding Thai Nguyen province, Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the province continue to create favorable conditions for Trina Solar Group to invest in the locality so that the project can start operation as soon as possible. The government and relevant ministries and agencies will accompany, share, and create favorable conditions for the Group to operate steadily, sustainably, and even more successfully in Vietnam...
