Thai Nguyen to evaluate PCI and announce DDCI in 2021

On the afternoon of July 7th, at Danko Plaza Thai Nguyen Trade Center, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to evaluate the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and announce the Department and District Competitiveness Index (DDCI) in 2021.

Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of the National Assembly; Mr. Trinh Viet Hung, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Pham Tan Cong, Chairman of the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; departments, divisions, branches, localities, members of the Provincial PCI Steering Committee; representatives of associations, business associations in the province… attended the conference.

According to the evaluation of VCCI, Thai Nguyen's PCI in 2021 is 64.81 points, ranked 28th out of 63 provinces and cities, reducing 17 positions compared to 2020, being listed in the group of good results.

For DDCI, 2021 is the first year Thai Nguyen carried out a survey on the satisfaction of the business community for two groups, including 11 departments, branches and 9 districts, cities and towns on the quality of economic management and business environment. More than 1,000 businesses and cooperatives participated in the survey.

Provincial leaders award certificates to units with high DDCI Index.

The results show that, with a maximum score of 100, the average score of the group of departments and branches is 85.97 points; of localities is 84.21 points. In which, the State Treasury of the province (89.17 points) and Song Cong City are the 2 leading units in the group. Department of Construction (77.65 points) and Phu Binh district (81.25 points) have the lowest indexes in the group.

Speaking at the conference, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee recognized and praised the units that achieved high DDCI ranking results. She expected that in the coming time, departments, agencies and People's Committees of districts and cities will continue to well perform their functions and tasks, actively implement mechanisms and policies; always stand side by side with the business community in order to promptly remove difficulties, boost production and business, increase profits and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the province.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also suggested that the branches and localities continue to pay attention to and promote the construction of e-government, digital transformation towards digital government, digital economy and digital society to improve quality, effectively serve people and businesses...

The Chairman of the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry expressed his impression with Thai Nguyen province's results in recent years, especially in the first 6 months of 2022. He highly appreciated the province's interest in improving the business environment, creating favorable conditions for businesses to operate. He agreed with the province's assessment of the achieved results as well as limitations and shortcomings in the implementation of the indicators and emphasized that Thai Nguyen should consider PCI as an effective tool to assess the business environment, thus giving appropriate adjustment solutions.

Appreciating Thai Nguyen's approach in implementing DDCI, the VCCI Chairman said that this is an opportunity to spread and promote the spirit of administrative reform, enhancing the role and voice of the business community. He believed that, with an effective and creative way, the province's PCI will definitely be improved in the coming years.

At the conference, the Provincial Businesses’ Association proposed 5 issues to the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee in order to continue to improve the business and investment environment and create more favorable conditions for the businesses to operate.
