Mr. Duong Van Luong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just had a working session with the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Asian Development Bank (ADB) on preparing conditions to implement the project "Development of smart agricultural value chain infrastructure to adapt to climate change in Thai Nguyen province".
The project " Development of smart agricultural value chain infrastructure to adapt to climate change in Thai Nguyen province" is funded by ADB. Total investment is expected to be over VND 1,200 billion. The project is to apply advanced technologies to promote safe, smart tea production, adapt to climate change, and invest in technologies to serve production and strengthen the capacity of tea farmers and businesses. The Project is to improve the productivity, quality and value of tea trees, and at the same time improve production infrastructure and market connectivity; increase income for tea producing households.
At the meeting, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and ADB asked Thai Nguyen province to prepare necessary conditions and procedures; work with relevant Ministries and sectors to speed up the project implementation.
In return, the Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee thanked to the attention and facilitation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and ADB to develop tea trees - a specialty and a key crop of Thai Nguyen. At the same time, they affirmed that the implementation of the Project would help to improve the infrastructure in tea planting and producing areas, especially in terms of transportation and irrigation, which are important conditions to attract more investors. He directed relevant departments to speed up the implementation of the project.
