After a long time of "freezing" due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam officially reopened international tourism from March 15. Thai Nguyen's tourism sector has shown signs of prosperity after the Tet holiday. The reopening will create a "strong push", helping the province to welcome more tourists.
According to our survey, on the first day of reopening, tourism activities in the province are still relatively quiet at some famous places such as Nui Coc lake, Dinh Hoa ATK, Dung Tan tourist area...
Mr. Do Trong Hiep, Chairman of the Provincial Tourism Association, shared: Due to the heavy damage as a crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism service businesses in the province had almost no revenue in recent two years. The reopening is a great opportunity to restart and recover tourism sector in the new normal.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy Director of Dung Tan Limited Company, Song Cong city, this year's goal is to welcome about 200,000 tourists.

Everyone is happy. We have sanitized the accommodation area and practiced English to interact directly with foreign tourists.

Many accommodation establishments such as Dong A Plaza, Kim Thai, Hai Yen… also actively embellished their facilities, launched promotional programs, and reduced service fares. Representative of Hai Yen Hotel, Group 12, Dong Quang Ward, Thai Nguyen City, said: "We reduce 5-15 percent of room price; 15-20 percent of the fee for using other services at the hotel."
"We try to create the best conditions in human resources, equipment as well as handling medical situations at the facility. We have 30 stilt houses, hope to welcome many tourists, especially international ones," Ms. Le Thi Nga, manager of Thai Hai eco-tourism area, Thinh Duc commune, Thai Nguyen City, informed.
Along with the initiative of tourism units and businesses, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has submitted a report and advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan reopening tourism activities and implement policies to support laborers and businesses to restore their operations.
Le Ngoc Linh, Vice Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized: "All activities must comply with regulations on the COVID-19 prevention and control, achieving its twin goal of containing the Covid-19 pandemic and reviving the economy. The Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to develop tours of cultural experiences and visits to historical sites for international visitors, focusing on foreigners working in industrial zones.
Thai Nguyen targets welcoming 1.3 million tourists in 2022. Along with the tourism potentials, the province will organize many events and activities to attract tourists, such as Thai Nguyen Culture and Tourism Week; The 4th Thai Nguyen - Vietnam Tea Festival, the 2nd National Dao Ethnic Cultural Festival… The reopening of tourism will be a great opportunity to attract more tourists, especially international visitors, towards the target of becoming a spearhead economic industry of the province.
