NA Standing Committee passes resolution to establish Pho Yen city

On the afternoon of February 15th, NA Standing Committee conducted voting for the adoption of establishing wards under Pho Yen town and Pho Yen city (Thai Nguyen province).

According to the Government's report presented by the Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Pho Yen town larges 258.42 kilometers square with a population size of 231,363 people. The town has 18 commune-level administrative units, including four wards and 14 communes. The urbanization rate in 2020 reached 33.35 percent. 

The Government proposed establishing nine wards based on the original natural area and population of 9 communes of Pho Yen town, including Dac Son, Nam Tien, Tien Phong, Dong Cao, Tan Phu, Thuan Thanh, Hong Tien, Tan Huong, Trung Thanh. 

The Government also proposed establishing Pho Yen city based on the original natural area, population size, commune-level administrative units of Pho Yen town.

Examining this content, NA Law Committee agreed with the need to establish 9 wards in Pho Yen town and Pho Yen city, Thai Nguyen province.

Thai Nguyen province has ensured 5 out of 5 conditions and 5 out of 5 standards in population size, natural area, number of affiliated administrative units, urban classification, infrastructure structure, and level of socio-economic development according to regulations to establish Pho Yen city. 

Discussing at the session, members of the NA Standing Committee expressed high agreement with this proposal. 

All members of the NA Standing Committee in the sesstion voted in agreement to adopt the resolution. The NA Standing Committee passed a Resolution on establishing 9 wards in Pho Yen town and Pho Yen city, Thai Nguyen province. 

Pho Yen city 

After establishing, Pho Yen city has 18 commune-level administrative units, including 13 wards and 5 communes. 

Accordingly, Thai Nguyen province has 9 district-level administrative units, including 6 districts and 3 cities; 178 commune-level administrative units, including 128 communes, 41 wards, 9 towns.
