Thai Nguyen Provincial Center for Disease Control has currently gained EQA certificated by the World Health Organization – WHO. EQA, External Quality Assessment, means a system developed by an independent external agency to assess the proficency testing for subnational laboratories to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus by Real-time PCR.

In 2020, CDC Thai Nguyen was one of three units allowed to test the SARS-CoV-2 virus by Real-time PCR. From 2021 April, the Center continues to be permitted by the Ministry of Health for screening tests.

In August, the Provincial Bussiness Association presented a Real-time PCR test system for CDC Thai Nguyen to manage and use. Thereby, the unit's testing capacity has been significantly increased with 1,000 samples per day.

Currently, along with two units in the province, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital, and A Thai Nguyen Hospital, the Center tests about 1,000 samples per day for COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control and the locals' needs.
