Tan Cuong's specialty tea area includes six communes: Tan Cuong, Phuc Triu, Phuc Xuan, Thinh Duc, Quyet Thang, Phuc Ha. The existing tea area is over 1,400 hectares, and its average yield is more than 150 quintals per hectares. In which the midland tea accounts for 10 percent.
To improve the tea products' value, Thai Nguyen City has developed a Scheme "Preservation and development of Tan Cuong specialty tea area, in the 2021-2025 period ", with a total cost of over VND 27 billion, including over VND 20.5 billion of the state budget and VND 6.6 billion of enterprises, cooperatives and farmers.
The above capital will focus on supporting the cuttings of midland tea varieties, machinery, processing, and preservation; the issuance of certificates of tea production according to VietGAP and organic safety standards; funding for measurement and adjustment of cadastral records; verify the codes of the growing area and packing establishment.
The Scheme aims to protect the existing midland tea area, strive to gain 1,700 hectares by 2025, with a yield of fresh bud tea of 155 quintals per hectares. At the same time, the midland tea area will reach 30% of the total area; 100% of the tea area in the concentrated material production area is applied the safe tea production process, at least 30% of the site is certified as safe; 100% of products produced by enterprises and cooperatives with safety standards have the codes of the growing area and packing establishment.
