Recently, Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee organized the Evaluation Conference of PCI in 2020 to discuss solutions to maintain and improve Thai Nguyen's position on the national PCI rankings, further enhancing the investment and business environment in the coming time.

Speaking at the Conference, the Chairman of the PCI Steering Committee of Thai Nguyen province assessed: 2020 was a special year when the business community and Thai Nguyen provincial government had to strain to cope with COVID -19 pandemic. Production and business activities of enterprises in the province were drastically affected, causing difficulties for the general economic development of the province. However, on the PCI Index Ranking 2020 announced in April 2021, Thai Nguyen has ranked 11th out of 63 provinces and cities in the country, leading in the group of provinces in the northern mountainous region.

At the Conference, associations and businesses in the province highly appreciated the synchronous participation of the provincial government, departments, branches, and localities to timely support and remove difficulties for businesses.

To continue maintaining and improving the PCI index, further improving the business investment environment, and promoting economic development, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that departments, branches, and localities needed to be more active and responsible in implementing mechanisms and policies, standing side by side with businesses.

For low PCI component indexes, he asked functional forces to advise the Provincial PCI Steering Committee to build a set of competitiveness indicators for departments, branches, and localities, promoting reform, publicity, and transparency of administrative procedures; At the same time, he called on the business community to accompany the provincial government in ensuring the implementation of the dual goals, effective prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic and socio-economic development.
