Dai Tu, ATK district, is associated with many historical relic sites where Uncle Ho lived and worked during the resistance war against the French colonialists. The locality has many potentials and advantages to develop industry, agriculture, tourism, trade, and service. Significantly, the district has the largest multi-metal mine in the country. Hence, Dai Tu district is striving to become a satellite urban in the Northwest of Thai Nguyen province.
Mr. Pham Duy Hung, Secretary of the Dai Tu District Party Committee, said: the district has identified three essential timelines: a new rural district in 2024, a grade four city in 2025, and a town under the province by 2030. Hence, the district has built a specific plan for each phase with solutions suitable to local conditions and strengths.
Dai Tu district has achieved 2 out of 5 standards of a town under the province, including population size and natural area. The three unsatisfactory standards are considered difficult ones. So, the district must take much time to achieve them.
The district achieved 4 out of 6 criteria of the standard on structure and level of socio-economic development. However, the district has met one of the two criteria of the subordinate administrative units standard, which is over ten affiliated commune-level administrative units. In addition, the district has many advantages to develop non-agricultural fields.

Sixteen communes and towns which have enough wards met the criteria of size and population. To change the appearance of communes, establish wards, the district has decided to invest nearly VND 35 billion to make the detailed planning of 26 communes.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tien Hoi Commune, informed: to date, the commune has achieved 9 out of 17 criteria to become a ward. The commune has completed its adjustment project of the general and detailed planning. The commune has spent nearly 10 hectares of land for commercial and service development to increase the rate of non-agricultural workers, making a positive contribution to the local budget.
Along with mobilizing resources to build synchronous infrastructure, expand urban space, the district focused on developing transport infrastructure with essential routes. At the same time, the district is actively promoting the implementation of eco-tourism and resort projects on the East side of the Tam Dao mountains. These projects are expected to show a driving role for the local development, creating the foundation for the formation of the town in the future.
"In the coming time, the district will improve the investment and business environment, gradually change people's production thinking to meet the requirements of economic development, develop agriculture in the direction of safety, high technology, exploit the advantages of heritage and natural resources to promote tourism" - the Secretary of the District Party Committee added.
