Focus on digital transformation in agriculture

That is the direction of Mr. Duong Van Luong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, at the conference on digital transformation in agriculture and rural development taking place on June 22. In recent times, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has initially implemented digital transformation, specifically: building a website system of the Department and its affiliated units to provide information for the direction and administration, propagating and guiding people and businesses to carry out online procedures, thereby promoting administrative reform. The database system of agriculture, forestry, and fishery has been built with 16 databases with tables and maps. Tree management software (smarttrees.thainguyen.gov.vn) has completed 80% of its functions. An automatic rain gauge system and surveillance camera system for disaster prevention have been deployed using information technology on the cloud computing platform.

However, the digital transformation results of the agriculture sector still have many limitations, such as there is no synchronization between the Department's website and its affiliated units; the data update is not regular.

At the conference, the delegates discussed and proposed many solutions to promote the application of information technology in cultivation, animal husbandry, forestry, and irrigation.

In conclusion, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that agriculture is the priority field to implement digital transformation according to the Resolution of the Party Executive Committee. Therefore, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has to coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications to make plans, deploy tasks neatly, focused, and suitable to reality in the coming time. In which, it is necessary to focus on all areas, mainly product quality management. He required that the Department of Industry and Trade cooperates with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and other departments to develop e-commerce for agricultural products.
