In the afternoon of May 15, the Belgian Embassy and the Belgian Sodraep Company, led by Anke Van Lancker, the First Secretary of the Belgian Embassy in Hanoi, met the Provincial People's Committee to implement the project of drainage and wastewater treatment system in the southern center of Thai Nguyen city. Welcoming and working with the delegation was Mr. Vu Hong Bac, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Leaders of some departments and agencies of Thai Nguyen province.
The project of drainage and wastewater treatment system in the southern center of Thai Nguyen city was approved of the ODA loan portfolio of the Kingdom of Belgium Government by the Prime Minister. The total investment project is nearly 440 billion VND, equivalent to nearly 19 million EURO; Of which, the Belgian government's ODA for consultants and equipment was over 252 billion VND, equivalent to nearly 11 million EURO; The rest is domestic reciprocal capital. On that basis, the investor of the project is Thai Nguyen Urban Water Supply and Drainage Development Co., Ltd. selected the contractor to supply the devices was Society for the Development of Sewerage and Drinking Water(Sodraep) - Kingdom of Belgium
At the meeting, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee gave a general overview of Thai Nguyen province and emphasized that Thai Nguyen is currently attracting more capital to carry out projects, especially Infrastructure development projects. Therefore, the implementation of the project of drainage and wastewater treatment system in the southern center of Thai Nguyen city is very necessary that is the foundation of the city to complete the urban infrastructure to satisfy urban areas of grade I. The Chairman highly appreciate the cooperation and assistance of the Belgian Government in assisting in the project implementation.
At the meeting, Ms. Anke Van Lancker also affirmed that the Kingdom of Belgium is always interested in the project of drainage and wastewater treatment system in Thai Nguyen city, expects the two parties continue to exchange and cooperate for early project implementation and sign the ODA Credit Agreement firstly.
On the basis of the two parties exchanges, the chairman of the provincial People's Committee affirmed that Thai Nguyen will make a written commitment soon to submit ministries showing the provincial responsibility for project implementation and recommended the Government put the project in the mid-term investment plan.
