Thai Nguyen Provincial leaders work with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)

On the afternoon of July 30th, at the office of Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Duong Ngoc Long - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee welcomed and worked with Mr. Wang Kwang Ik, the representative of KOICA Vietnam Office about the pilot project of the green urban planning and the planning supporting system building in Yen Binh Urban Area – Thai Nguyen. The representative of Ministry of Construction, leaders of concerned departments and agencies of the province attended the meeting.

Mr. Wang Kwang Ik is a senior researcher of Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, Director of the building technique supporting project of the green and smart city general planning in Vietnam.

 

Mr. Wang Kwang Ik and KOICA Vietnam Office had several working sessions about this project with Thai Nguyen Province. Mr. Wang Kwang Ik and the mission had taken time for the last field work at Yen Binh Urban Area (Pho Yen Town) before this meeting with leaders of the provincial people’s committee. Accordingly, at the meeting, Mr. Wang Kwang Ik announced to the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee KOICA’s design to officially sign a cooperation agreement with Thai Nguyen Province in terms of implementing the project by the end of this year. As to the province, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee committed to allocate the essential resources in collaboration with KOICA in order to implement the project quickly and efficiently. The province would provide necessary legal documents to prepare for the project; facilitate Korean experts to examine and evaluate the project in the implementation process in Thai Nguyen; receive and use the project’s capital effectively to aim at completing the planning of Yen Binh Green Urban Area. The scale of this pilot project is over 1,000 ha, including 850 ha of the new developing area. The proposed fund for the project is expected to be 3.3 million US dollars, of which the Korean government is proposed financing 3 million US dollars, the province’s counterpart fund is 0.3 million US dollars. The project’s purpose is to apply the Korean green technology strategy, use information technology in the urban construction and management economically, effectively as well as improve the quality of life, thereby enlarging the model to the other cities.
